Okay, here’s my blog post about installing that batten basketball oak portable wooden flooring:
Alright, so I finally got around to tackling that flooring project. You know, the one I’d been putting off for, like, ever? I wanted a decent surface for shooting hoops, something that wouldn’t kill my knees like concrete, and I didn’t want to spend a fortune. That’s where this “batten basketball oak portable wooden flooring” came in.
The Prep Work
First things first, I cleared the area. This was mostly just moving some old junk and sweeping up a ton of dust and leaves. I wanted a nice, level surface to work with, so I spent a good chunk of time making sure everything was even. I even used a long level to double-check. It was probably overkill, but hey, I wanted it done right.
Laying Down the Battens
Next up were the battens. These are basically just long strips of wood that create the framework for the flooring. I laid them out according to the instructions – spacing them evenly was key. I used some scrap wood as spacers to make sure everything was uniform, It’s very useful.
Putting the Floor Together
This is where things got a little interesting. The flooring panels themselves were like giant puzzle pieces. They had this tongue-and-groove system, so you basically slide one panel into the next. It sounds simple, but it took some wiggling and a bit of muscle to get them to lock together properly. My hands are very painful, but I am so happy, lol.
I started in one corner and worked my way across, row by row. It was kind of satisfying to see it all come together. I used a rubber mallet a few times to gently tap the panels into place – didn’t want to damage anything, so be careful.
The Finishing Touches
Once all the panels were down, it was pretty much done! I swept up any leftover wood scraps and gave the whole thing a good once-over. I even bounced a basketball on it a few times – felt pretty good!
Honestly, it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. It took a good afternoon, and yeah, my back was a little sore the next day, but it was totally worth it. Now I’ve got a sweet little spot to practice my jump shot. Maybe I’ll even invite some friends over for a game.
