Alright, guys, gather ’round, let me tell you about my latest project. I decided to install some LVL Basketball parquet wooden flooring, and man, it was a journey!

Getting Started

First things first, I cleared out the entire space. This wasn’t just a quick tidy-up; I mean everything out, down to the bare bones. Then came the prep work. I made sure the subfloor was level and clean. Any bumps or dips, and you’re gonna have a bad time later, trust me. I used a self-leveling compound to fix some of those little imperfections.

The Main Event

Next up, the fun part – laying down the actual flooring. I started in one corner, working my way across the room. It’s like a giant puzzle, each piece fitting snugly against the next. I used a mallet and tapping block to gently persuade the pieces into place. Gotta be careful not to damage those edges, you know?

  • Unboxing: I carefully opened all the flooring boxes and let the wood acclimate to the room’s temperature and humidity for a couple of days.
  • Layout Planning: I took the time to measure and dry-fit some rows to get a feel for the pattern and minimize cuts.
  • Gluing and Nailing I applied the adhisive as instruced.
  • Expansion Gaps: Remember those expansion gaps around the edges? Super important. Wood expands and contracts, so you gotta give it some room to breathe.

Finishing Touches

Once the flooring was all laid down, I went back and filled in any tiny gaps with wood filler. Then came the sanding – oh boy, the sanding. I rented a big floor sander, starting with a coarse grit and working my way down to a fine grit. It was dusty, but so satisfying to see the floor become smooth as butter.

Finally, I applied a few coats of polyurethane finish. This is what protects the wood and gives it that beautiful shine. I let each coat dry completely before adding the next. And boom, there you have it – a brand-spanking-new basketball court floor! It’s not perfect, but hey, I did it myself, and that’s something to be proud of.

It was tough ,but worth it!
