Well, let me tell ya, this here volleyball court floor thing, it ain’t as simple as you might think. Folks talk about all sorts of fancy stuff, but it boils down to a few things, ya know? Like, what it’s made of, how long it lasts, and how much it’s gonna cost ya. Them fancy city folks, they got their poly-something and their vinyl, but good ol’ wood, that’s what I like.
Now, when it comes to wood, they say hard maple is the real deal. I ain’t no expert, mind you, but I heard it’s tough as nails and lasts a good long time. You see, this maple wood, it comes from them maple trees, big ol’ things they are. And the wood, it’s real dense, so it don’t dent up easy. That’s important, you know, with all them young’uns jumpin’ and stompin’ around on the volleyball court.
They say this maple wood is kinda light-colored, too. Not too dark, not too light, just right. And it’s got this pretty grain to it, little swirls and lines all over. Makes it look nice, I guess. City folks like that kinda thing. They call it fashionable, whatever that means. But I reckon it just means it looks good and won’t go outta style anytime soon.
- Strong wood: Gotta be tough, this maple stuff is.
- Lasts long: Don’t want somethin’ that breaks down in a year or two.
- Looks alright: Pleasant to the eye, ya know?
Now, I ain’t seen this Formica stuff myself, but I heard it’s like a coverin’, a thin piece you put on top of somethin’ else. They call it laminate. Sounds fancy, don’t it? This Formica stuff, they make it look like hard maple. So, you get the look of the wood without payin’ through the nose, I reckon. They say it’s pretty tough too, and easy to clean. That’s a good thing, ’cause them volleyball courts get messy with all that sweat and dirt.
If you’re fixin’ to put in a new volleyball floor, you gotta think about what you need. If you got a bunch of money and want the best, maybe that real hard maple wood is the way to go. But if you’re on a budget, that Formica laminate stuff might be just the ticket. It looks good, lasts a while, and don’t cost a fortune. It all depends on what you’re lookin’ for, really.
I remember back when they built the school gym, they used some kinda wood, but it weren’t maple. It got all scratched up and wore out pretty quick. So, whatever you choose, make sure it’s somethin’ that can stand up to a lot of use. Volleyball players, they’re a rough bunch, always jumpin’ and divin’ and whatnot. You need a floor that can take a beatin’ and keep on lookin’ good.
Hard Rock Maple, that’s what they call that Formica stuff. Sounds tough, don’t it? And it’s got this matte finish, which means it ain’t shiny. That’s probably a good thing, ’cause you don’t want the light glarin’ off the floor and blindin’ the players. They say it’s comfortable too, which I guess is important if you’re gonna be runnin’ and jumpin’ on it all day.
So there you have it, my two cents on this volleyball court floor business. Hard maple wood is the real deal, but that Formica laminate stuff ain’t too shabby either. Just make sure you get somethin’ tough and long-lastin’, and you’ll be alright. And don’t forget to get it installed right, ’cause a bad installation can ruin even the best floor.
