Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this here floorin’, ya know, the stuff ya walk on every day. They call it all sorts of fancy names, like laminate dancing parquet assembled wooden flooring, but to me, it’s just floorin’. Don’t go gettin’ all confused with them big words.

Now, some folks, they got these choices to make. Parquet or laminate, they say. It’s like standin’ at a fork in the road, not knowin’ which way to go. One way looks shiny and new, the other looks…well, it looks like somethin’ your grandma had, but let me tell ya, grandma’s stuff lasted longer than most things these days!

They got this new stuff, they call it laminate. It’s like…plastic wood, ya know? Looks alright, I guess, but it ain’t the real deal. They say it’s cheaper, and that’s true, but cheap ain’t always good. This laminate stuff, it scratches real easy. You drag a chair across it, and boom, you got a mark. And ya can’t just sand it down and make it look new again. Nope, once it’s scratched, it’s scratched. That’s what the young fella at the store told me when I went to look. Said somethin’ about “high traffic areas” makin’ it worse. High traffic! Like my little kitchen is Times Square or somethin’.

  • Scratches easy.
  • Can’t sand it down.
  • Cheaper, but maybe not better.

Then there’s this other stuff, parquet, they call it. It’s real wood, see? Little pieces all put together in fancy patterns. Reminds me of them puzzles my grandson used to play with. Now, this parquet, it costs more, that’s for sure. But it lasts longer, way longer. And if ya scratch it, well, ya can sand it down and make it look pretty again. It’s like gettin’ a new floor without havin’ to rip everything up. My neighbor, old Mrs. Henderson, she’s had parquet for I don’t know how long, and it still looks good as new, even after all them grandkids of hers runnin’ around.

They also got this engineered wood, somewhere in between I guess. More money than that laminate stuff, but not as much as the real wood parquet. And they say it lasts a good long time too, if ya take care of it, like 20 years or even longer! Imagine that! I might not even be around in 20 years, so the floor would probably outlive me! That sounds like a good deal, doesn’t it?

So, if you ask me, and nobody ever does, but I’m tellin’ ya anyway, it’s like this: Ya want somethin’ cheap and easy, get the laminate. But don’t come cryin’ to me when it gets all scratched up. Ya want somethin’ that’ll last, somethin’ that’s worth the money, get the parquet or maybe that engineered wood. It’s like buyin’ a good pair of shoes, ya know? Spend a little more now, and ya won’t have to buy new ones next year. And remember, that fancy name, laminate dancing parquet assembled wooden flooring, it don’t mean nothin’ if it ain’t gonna last.

And another thing, these young folks, they keep changin’ things. They say vinyl and laminate have gotten better, but I ain’t so sure. Seems like everything’s made cheaper these days, not built to last. They want ya to keep buyin’ new stuff, that’s how they make their money. But I say, stick with what ya know, what’s tried and true. That’s what my ma always said, and she was a smart woman, even if she didn’t know nothin’ about no laminate dancing parquet assembled wooden flooring.

So, there ya have it. My two cents on floorin’. Take it or leave it, makes no difference to me. I’m just tellin’ ya like it is, plain and simple.
