Alright, let’s gab about this floorin’ stuff, ya know, for volleyball and such. I ain’t no fancy expert, but I seen a thing or two.

First off, they got this stuff they call laminate. Now, I ain’t sure what all’s in it, but it looks kinda like wood, but it ain’t. They say it’s cheaper than real wood, which is good, ’cause who wants to spend a fortune on a floor, right? I heard tell it can be a bit slippery though, so ya gotta be careful, especially when them young’uns are jumpin’ and divin’ all over the place. You don’t want ’em slippin’ and breakin’ somethin’, goodness gracious no.

Then there’s this rubber stuff. Now, that sounds sturdy, don’t it? Like them tires on a tractor. They say it’s good for absorbin’ shock, so when them players come down hard, their knees don’t go all wonky. That makes sense, I reckon. I remember when my grandpappy used to say, “Always land soft, like a cat,” but these volleyball players, they ain’t cats, they’re more like… well, like energetic chickens, flappin’ and jumpin’ all over. So yeah, rubber sounds good for that.

And speaking of rubber, there’s this thing called a rubber tree. Imagine that! A tree that makes rubber! I always thought rubber just came from factories, but I guess it starts somewhere, right? Anyways, they use the wood from this tree, they call it Hevea or Rubberwood, for floorin’ too. They say it’s kinda like hardwood, but it’s from a tree that used to make rubber. Sounds kinda fancy to me, but if it’s strong and lasts long, then I guess it’s alright. They also use the rubber itself to make all kinds of floorin’. I seen it in gyms, real thick and bouncy. Kinda like those mats they use for wrestlin’, but bigger.

Now, the real deal, that’s the wooden floorin’. Like the kind they got in them fancy gymnasiums on TV. It’s real pretty, all shiny and smooth. They say it gives a good bounce to the ball, makes it easier to play, I guess. But wood, it can be expensive, ya know? And it needs special care, gotta keep it clean and polished, or it’ll get all scratched up and dull. And if it gets wet, well, that’s a whole heap of trouble. My neighbor had a wooden floor once, and the water pipe burst, oh boy, it was a mess, I tell ya. So yeah, wood is nice, but it ain’t always practical, specially if you got a bunch of messy kids runnin’ around.

  • So, which one’s the best? Well, that depends, I reckon.
  • If you’re on a budget, maybe laminate is the way to go.
  • If you want somethin’ safe and shock-absorbin’, rubber is good.
  • If you want fancy and you got the money, wood is the ticket.
  • And then there’s that Rubberwood, kinda in-between, I guess.

But no matter what you choose, ya gotta make sure it’s put together right. That’s what they call assembly, I think. Gotta have them boards or sheets lined up all straight and nailed down tight, or else you’ll have a bumpy floor, and nobody wants that. You don’t want them players trippin’ over a loose board, now do ya? So, find yourself a good fella who knows what he’s doin’, and let him handle the assembly part. That way, you can be sure it’s done right.

I tell ya, this floorin’ business is more complicated than I thought. But at the end of the day, ya just want somethin’ that’s safe, sturdy, and won’t break the bank. And if it looks nice too, well, that’s just a bonus, ain’t it?

And remember, whether it’s for volleyball or just for the kids to run around on, a good floor is important. It’s the foundation of a good game, and a good home, I reckon.
