Alright, let me tell ya about this… this… laminate volleyball thing, or whatever it’s called. L-V-L, they say. Sounds fancy, but it’s just wood, you know? Like them fellas use for buildin’ houses, ‘cept this stuff’s all glued together.

Now, I ain’t no engineer or nothin’, but from what I gather, they take these thin pieces of wood, like real thin, and stick ’em all together. Kinda like makin’ a layer cake, but with wood instead of flour and sugar. And this ain’t no ordinary wood, they say it’s tough stuff. They call it “engineered wood,” which just means some smarty-pants figured out how to make wood stronger.

  • They use it for beams, the things that hold up the roof.
  • And for headers, them things over the doors and windows.
  • Seems like it’s good for anything that needs to be strong and straight.

They say this LVL stuff is better than regular ol’ wood ’cause it don’t warp or twist as much. You know how wood can get all wonky when it gets wet or dry? Well, this stuff ain’t supposed to do that. Which is good, I reckon, ’cause you don’t want your house fallin’ down ’cause the wood got all crooked.

Now, this “larch” part, that’s just a type of tree, like a pine or oak. They say this larch wood is real strong, even though it’s a softwood. Softwood, hardwood, it’s all wood to me. But apparently, this larch wood is one of the toughest softwoods around, harder than some of them fancy hardwoods they use for furniture.

They use this larch wood to make the LVL. So, it’s like takin’ somethin’ strong and makin’ it even stronger. Like when you take a bunch of twigs and tie ’em together, they’re harder to break than just one twig by itself. Makes sense, I guess.

And what’s this about volleyball? I ain’t got a clue what that has to do with it. Maybe they use this wood stuff for volleyball courts or somethin’? Or maybe it’s just a name someone came up with. City folks and their fancy names, always tryin’ to confuse ya.

But the important thing is, this LVL larch timber stuff is strong. And that’s what you want when you’re buildin’ somethin’ that needs to last. You don’t want it falling apart after a few years. You want it to stay put, like a good stubborn mule.

So, whether it’s for houses or whatever, this LVL seems like good stuff. Strong, straight, and don’t warp. That’s what they say, anyway. I ain’t seen it myself, but I trust them fellas who know about these things. They wouldn’t be usin’ it if it wasn’t any good, would they? Not unless they wanted a whole bunch of houses fallin’ down, and nobody wants that. Cept maybe the insurance fellas, they might like that a bit too much.

Anyway, that’s the gist of it. LVL larch timber, strong wood for buildin’ stuff. Nothin’ too complicated, just good ol’ wood made even better. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my chickens.

And that’s about all I know about this here laminate thing, or whatever they’re callin’ it nowadays. Seems like they’re always comin’ up with new names for things, just to keep us old folks confused. But as long as it holds up the roof, I reckon it’s alright by me.
