Okay, here’s my blog post about assembling a keel basketball parquet wooden floor, written from my personal experience, using simple language and basic HTML formatting:

So, I decided to put in a little practice court in my backyard. I’ve always loved basketball, and having a spot to shoot hoops whenever I felt like it sounded amazing. I did some digging and decided on a keel system with parquet wooden flooring. It seemed like a good balance of quality and, well, let’s just say I was trying to keep the costs somewhat reasonable.

Getting Started

First things first, I cleared the area. This was probably the least fun part. Pulling weeds, leveling the dirt – it was a workout before the actual workout even began! I made sure the ground was as flat as I could possibly get it, cause nobody wants a wonky court.

Then came the keel system. Think of it like the skeleton of the floor. It’s these metal supports that create a framework.

I choose pre-fabricated keel.

And then I laid the framework, following the marks.

Laying the Parquet

Now for the fun part – the actual wooden floor! I went with parquet because it looks cool, and it’s supposed to be pretty durable.

The parquet came in these square sections, like giant puzzle pieces.

I started in one corner, carefully placing the first section down on the keel. Then, it was just a matter of fitting the pieces together. They had this tongue-and-groove system, so they kind of clicked into place. It was surprisingly satisfying, like solving a massive, wooden jigsaw puzzle.

  • Align the edges: It’s crucial to get everything straight, especially with the first few rows.
  • Tap, don’t slam: I used a rubber mallet to gently tap the pieces together. You don’t want to damage the wood.
  • Check for level: Every few rows, I used a level to make sure things were still even.

The Finishing Touches

After it full filled,I feel so great.

And that’s pretty much it! It took a couple of weekends, a lot of sweat, and maybe a few sore muscles, but I’ve got my own little basketball court. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go shoot some hoops!
