Alright, let’s talk about this here basketball floorin’, the kind they use for them big-time games. You know, the fancy stuff. I heard they call it somethin’ fancy, somethin’ like “FIBA Basketball soft maple portable wooden flooring”. Sounds like a mouthful, don’t it?
What kind of wood is best, you ask?
Well, from what I hear, most folks like that maple wood. Yep, maple. They say it’s the best. Strong, you know? Can take a beatin’. Them fellas runnin’ and jumpin’ all over the place, that floor gotta be tough. I reckon maple is just the ticket.
Now, I seen some other floors, the kinda fake-lookin’ ones. They call ’em “synthetic” or somethin’. They’re cheaper, I guess, and easier to clean up. But they ain’t the real deal, you know? If you want the good stuff, you gotta go with the wood. Especially that maple.
- Strong wood is important!
- Maple is a good choice for floors.
- Some floors are not real wood.
These here floors, they ain’t just slapped together, no sir. They gotta be made just right. I heard they make ’em in big ol’ factories, then they put some kinda shiny stuff on top, like a varnish or somethin’. Makes ’em all smooth and pretty. And that shiny stuff, it helps protect the wood, I reckon. Keeps it from gettin’ all scratched up and worn out.
And get this, some of these floors, you can move ’em around! Imagine that! They call ’em “portable”. I guess that’s good if you gotta have a game in one place, then move it to another. Handy, I suppose. But I bet they’re heavy as all get-out.
Why is wood so good for basketball?
Well, it’s got a little bit of give to it, you know? Not too much, but just enough. Helps them fellas jump and run without hurtin’ their knees too bad. And it’s got a good bounce to it, for the ball. You want that ball to bounce right, don’t ya? Can’t be playin’ on no hard, dead floor. Gotta have some spring to it.
Now, I ain’t no expert, but I know what I like. And I like a good, solid wood floor. Makes the game better, I think. Makes it feel more… real. You know what I mean? And if you’re gonna spend all that money on a basketball court, you might as well do it right. Get the good stuff. Get that maple.
Thinkin’ about getting a floor for your court?
If you are gettin’ one of these here floors, remember what I said. Go for the maple. It might cost a bit more, but it’s worth it in the long run. And make sure it’s made by someone who knows what they’re doin’. You don’t want no shoddy floor, that’s for sure. You want somethin’ that’ll last. Somethin’ that them fellas can play on for years to come. And when you get that good floor, then you’ll have a real nice place to play some basketball.
What about other kinds of wood?
Now, I ain’t saying there ain’t other good woods out there. There probably are. But from what I hear, maple is the top dog when it comes to basketball floors. It’s the one the pros use, so it must be somethin’ special, right? And like I said before, you want strong. You want tough. You want somethin’ that can take a beatin’ and keep on goin’. That’s what you get with maple.
So there you have it. My two cents on basketball floors. Not that my two cents is worth much, but there it is anyway. Just remember, when it comes to basketball floors, go with the wood. Go with the maple. And you can’t go wrong.
