Alright, so you wanna know about this here basketball floorin’, huh? The kinda stuff they use for them big-time games, like that FIBA thing. Well, lemme tell ya what I know, though I ain’t no fancy expert or nothin’.
First off, they got this wood called Hevea. Sounds fancy, right? But it’s just rubberwood, the stuff they get from them trees they use for makin’ rubber. They say it’s good for the environment ’cause they use the trees after they ain’t no good for rubber no more. Makes sense, I guess. Waste not, want not, that’s what I always say.
Now, most folks, when they think basketball floors, they think about maple. That’s the good stuff, the real deal. Especially for them NBA fellas, that’s what they like. But it ain’t the only thing you can use, ya know.
- Some folks use that PVC or vinyl stuff. It’s like plastic, I think. Easy to clean, I reckon.
- Then there’s them sport tiles. Like big ol’ puzzle pieces, I guess. Snap ’em together, and boom, you got a floor.
- And of course, there’s wood. Like that Hevea stuff, or maple, or whatever else they got. Feels nice under your feet, I bet.
- Some places just use concrete or even that asphalt stuff, like the roads. But that don’t seem too fancy for a real game, does it?
Then there’s them floors that are all springy, ya know? They call it “area-elastic” or somethin’. Makes the ball bounce good, they say. And it’s safer too, so them players don’t get hurt so bad when they fall. that’s one of them. Sounds like a good idea to me. Keepin’ them youngsters safe is important.
Now, some of these floors, they stay put. Fixed, they call it. But others, you can take ’em apart and move ’em around. Removable, like. Guess that’s handy if you need to use the space for somethin’ else sometimes.
So, there you have it. That’s what I know about basketball floors. Hevea, maple, plastic, tiles, concrete, springy ones, ones that stay put, ones that don’t. It’s all a bit much, ain’t it? But hey, as long as them fellas can dribble and shoot, I guess it don’t matter too much what they’re runnin’ on. Just gotta make sure it’s safe and bouncy, right?
Anyways, hope that helped ya some. I ain’t no expert, but I know a thing or two. Been around long enough to see a few things, ya know.
