Okay, here’s my blog post about setting up that portable wooden volleyball court with the rubber volleyball:

Alright, so the other day I got this idea to make a little volleyball area in my backyard. I didn’t want anything permanent, ’cause, you know, sometimes you just wanna move things around. So I decided to go with a portable wooden floor thing, and I figured I’d use a rubber volleyball to keep things… well, a little less intense.

Getting Started

First, I went and got a bunch of those interlocking wooden floor tiles. You know, the kind they use for, like, outdoor events or temporary dance floors. I found some online, but you could probably grab them at a home improvement store too.

Then, I picked up a standard rubber volleyball. Nothing fancy, just your basic playground ball. I wanted something that wouldn’t, like, destroy the wood or go flying into the neighbor’s yard every five seconds.

Putting It Together

The cool thing about these floor tiles is that they just snap together. It’s like a giant puzzle, but way easier. I laid out a rectangle in my backyard, making sure the ground was pretty level first. I didn’t want any wobbly spots.

  • Clear the area.
  • Lay down the tiles.
  • Snap them together!

Once the floor was down, that was pretty much it! I grabbed the volleyball and started bouncing it around. It felt pretty good! The wood gives you a nice, solid surface, but it’s still got some give, so it’s not like playing on concrete.

My Thoughts

I did have a slight slope so, it’s important to level the ground and select it.

Honestly, it was super easy to set up. Took me, like, maybe an hour, tops. And the best part is, if I want to move it, I can just unsnap the tiles and put them somewhere else. Or, if I want to store it, I can just stack them up in the garage. The rubber ball is perfect ’cause it’s got a good bounce, but it’s not gonna do any damage. It’s also not as loud as those pro balls.

So yeah, if you’re looking for a fun, easy way to play some volleyball without, like, committing to a full-on court, this is a pretty sweet setup. Definitely recommend giving it a try!
